Core features

Search

Rolo's search is built for two different moments: when you know exactly who you're looking for, and when you know what you need but not who has it.

Two search modes

Keyword search

Type a name, company, role, or tag and Rolo returns matching contacts instantly. Results are ranked by relevance, with rarity tier boosts applied — so your Legendary contacts surface near the top even if someone else is a slightly closer text match. Use the filter panel on the left to narrow by company, rarity, tags, interaction recency, and more.

AI search

Switch to AI mode using the toggle in the search bar. Now you can ask questions in plain English:

  • "Who do I know at Series A-stage fintech companies?"
  • "Who should I reach out to about hiring a lead designer?"
  • "Who have I met at climate conferences in the past year?"
  • "Who can intro me to someone at Andreessen Horowitz?"

Rolo decomposes your query, searches across profiles and interaction history, and returns a ranked list of contacts with an explanation of why each one matched. There's also a fast variant that skips the explanation for quicker results.

Filters

The filter panel (click Filters or the sliders icon) lets you combine multiple conditions. Available filters include:

  • Rarity tier
  • Company
  • Tags
  • Relationship type
  • Location
  • Last interaction (recency)
  • RDS score range
  • Date added
  • Custom field values

Active filters appear as chips at the top of the results. Click any chip to remove that filter. You can combine keyword search and filters — for example, search "design" with a "Legendary" rarity filter to find your top design contacts.

Rank mode

Rank mode is a special view that displays your entire network as a ranked list rather than a search results page. Instead of searching for someone specific, you're asking: "given everything Rolo knows, in what order should I be thinking about these people?"

The ranking algorithm considers RDS score, interaction recency, rarity tier, and configurable boosts. You can tweak the weights using a rank preset.

Rank presets

Presets let you save different ranking configurations for different use cases. For example:

  • Warm intros: Boost by relationship strength and shared connections to find the best people to ask for introductions.

  • Dormant relationships: Boost by time-since-last-contact to surface people you haven't spoken to in a while but who have a high RDS.

  • Top investors: Filter to Legendary/Epic tier, boost by company and role match.

To create a preset: open the preset library from the Rank mode toolbar, configure your weights and filters, and save with a name. Presets are personal — they only affect your view.

Search feedback

If a search result isn't relevant, click the thumbs-down icon on that result card. Rolo records the feedback and uses it to improve ranking quality over time. You can also undo feedback if you change your mind — the undo button appears briefly after you submit.

Bulk selection on results

In keyword mode, you can select multiple result cards and apply bulk actions — assign rarity, add to group, or export. This is useful after a narrowed search ("all contacts at Stripe") when you want to do the same operation on all of them at once.

Next: Notes & capture
